Train services to Zermatt getting back on track

Train and road routes to Zermatt have started to be restored, allowing trapped tourists to leave the Swiss ski resort. Some 13,000 guests were affected by avalanches that have severely disrupted the area since Monday. The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn railway company resumed its service between Täsch and Zermatt on Wednesday evening, after the track had been successfully cleared of snow.  Replacement buses ferried passengers past areas of the track that are still closed, but the whole route should be open later on Thursday the railway company on its website. The Gornergrat Bahn is now fully operational. A tweet from the Zermatt tourist board on Thursday morning said the road between Zermatt and Täsch was now completely open.
